Drone Roof Surveys
The whole roof photographed before anyone sets foot on a ladder.
Moss holds water against your tiles and blocks your gutters. We clear it by hand, check the roof underneath while we are up there, and leave you the photos to prove it.
No harsh pressure washing that damages tile surfaces
A roofer up there, not just a cleaning crew
Optional treatment to slow regrowth after clearance
See the moss, the gutters and the roof before you commit
Most of the companies advertising roof moss removal in Northampton are exterior cleaning firms. They do driveways by day and roofs when asked, and once the moss is scraped off, their part is done. We come at it from the other direction: we are roofers first, so while the moss comes off by hand we are also looking at the tiles, the pointing and the flashing it has been sitting on.
That matters because moss does real damage quietly. It holds rainwater against the tile surface, the freeze-thaw cycles of a Northampton winter lift the edges, and every downpour washes a fresh crop of it into your gutters. If clearance reveals a cracked tile or tired flashing, we can quote to put it right on the same visit, and our flat roofing team covers the felt, GRP and rubber roofs that moss loves just as much.

A light dusting of moss on a roof is normal, especially on shaded pitches near trees. The trouble starts when it thickens into a carpet. That carpet soaks up rain like a sponge and holds it against the tile long after the sky has cleared. In winter the trapped water freezes, expands and works at the tile from the edges until small cracks become missing corners.
The second problem is gravity. Every shower of rain washes loose moss down into the gutters, and a gutter packed with moss holds water against the fascia and eventually overflows down the wall. Half the damp patches we are called to in Northampton trace back to gutters that were fine until moss season filled them.
Clearing it by hand deals with both. We lift the moss off without blasting the tile surface, flush the gutters through while we are up there, and photograph the roof so you can see the difference. If you want a protective coating to slow regrowth, we quote it separately and you decide.
Timing-wise, moss is easiest to deal with in a dry spell, when it is brittle and the roof surface is not slick. We work safely through most of the year, but a dry autumn or spring clearance means the gutters stay cleaner for longer afterwards, and any protective coating cures properly rather than fighting the rain. If a winter storm has already packed your gutters with moss, we can clear those first and schedule the roof for the next dry window. And if clearance shows the tiles themselves are past their best, the full range of work is on our Northampton roofers page.
